Brisbane's dining scene is buzzing with new restaurants and bars popping up all over the city. One of the latest hotspots is Same Same, a contemporary Thai restaurant and bar located in the trendy Ada Lane in Fortitude Valley. Same Same is the brainchild of Tyron Simon, who previously owned Longtime Thai. Although Longtime has closed its doors, Same Same captures the same atmosphere and flavours with a modern twist. The restaurant's minimalist interior features long communal tables and a central kitchen, giving it a lively and bustling vibe.
The menu at Same Same is packed with classic Thai dishes with a twist.
Start off with raw starters like beef tartare nahm tok or kingfish, green mango, Thai basil and chilli oil, or bar snacks such as betel leaf with sticky pork, peanuts, pineapple and Vietnamese mint. You can also try the soft shell crab bao with apple slaw or roasted pork belly pad see ew. The curries are not to be missed, including Moreton Bay Bug coconut and turmeric curry with kafir lime leaf or sour yellow curry with fried cauliflower, celery, cucumber and dill.

Same Same also offers a range of noodle and rice dishes, including roasted pork belly pad se uw with pickled chilli or fried rice, bay prawns, chilli, spring onions and fish sauce. For dessert, indulge in peanut butter parfait, chocolate mousse and peanut sand or basil gelato, lychee and ginger granita and cultured cream.
If you want to enjoy a drink before or after your meal, head upstairs to the bar, Los. This cosy cocktail bar features a dark green tiled bar and plenty of couches for lounging. The bar offers a 140-bottle strong wine list, over 110 tequilas behind the bar, and plenty of Thai-inspired cocktails. You can even order bar snacks from the Same Same menu downstairs.
Although Same Same has a slower style of service, it maintains the same buzz and lively atmosphere as Longtime. The restaurant has a nuanced 140-bottle wine list and offers a more authentic style of Thai cuisine. The standout features of the restaurant include the central kitchen and an enormous, tightly arched ceiling on the right-hand side of the venue, under which sits a long communal table.
